Record Of Recent News

This is a **record only** of recent news which appeared. Some of the details here will have been overtaken by events.

Yom Ha'atzma'ut
Event
- Monday 15 April

This coming Monday 15th April there will be a celebration for Israel’s 65th birthday.

We will be marking the evening with an Evening of Celebration with an IDF theme. There will be plenty of meaty food and a film presentation as well as entertainment.
Quite a number of people have already advance booked.  We are now taking tickets on the door only on Monday night at £10 each.

Please support this event as we are looking for as much support as possible for this very important occasion.

Enquiries and payment to Seth or Simone, who are organising the evening.

There will also be a Yom Hazikoron ceremony after Maariv on the same evening, ahead of the 65th birthday celebration. Minchah followed by Maariv on Monday evening is at 7.45pm.

Tuesday 9th April

Heart Start Course - 14th April **NOW FULL**

This Sunday’s Heart Start course is now full.

It operates on Sunday, 14th April, at 10am. The course will be taken by Julian Green, a former Yeshurun member and member of the St John Ambulance.  It is free to attend but if you have booked, please do attend.   A list of attendees is on the notice board.  The session takes about 2 1/2 hours.

Julian advises that for modesty, ladies are advised to wear trousers. This is not mandatory however. For the practical sessions we will work in pairs.  As we have 7 men and 7 ladies, there will be a mixed pair - we will choose a married couple for this.

Motzei Yomtov, 2nd April

Lag B'Omer Day Trip To Paris

Thank you to those who expressed an interest in a day trip to Paris on Lag B'Omer (Sunday 28 April).  There has not in fact been sufficient interest for this event to run on Lag B'Omer but it is clear there is potential for a similar event later in the year.

If anyone would like to come forward to organise such an event later in the summer please contact president@yeshurun.org.

Would You Like To Be Considered For A Haftorah?

We are now assigning Haftorahs for the summer season.  Contrary to popular belief, you do not have to have Yahrzeit to say a haftorah at Yeshurun - as will be witnessed by the fact that none of the people who have had haftorah over Shabbos, the latter days of Pesach, or the next two weeks are marking yahrzeits.

We are keen to make sure that no-one who feels they can do a Haftorah, as necessary with a few weeks’ preparation, is excluded from consideration to be asked.   Please see the Honorary Officers if you would like to be considered to say a haftorah in the future.

Shabbos Afternoon Layaning (Kriat Hatorah / Reading Of The Scrolls)

We are now assigning Shabbos Afternoon Layaning in the period up to Rosh Hashonah. If you are not being asked but are competent and would like to be considered to be asked, with notice, to layan on a Shabbos afternoon please see the Honorary Officers

Shul Bills

Members will all have received their bills in the post - please help us by paying promptly or by approaching us quickly if you have difficulty paying.   The FR advises you may find it efficient to pay before Friday 5th April.

People who are not members but regular attenders, either on Shabbos or during the week, and therefore will not have received bills are invited to make a donation to the shul to recongise your regular attendance at services and using the facilities of the community.

Note that the shul office is closed until Thursday April 4th.
