The Federation of Synagogues, of which Yeshurun is a constituent, has formed a sub committee to conduct a strategic review of itself. The sub committee is currently short of volunteers. If you are a man or a woman and a member of the Federation, with proven experience of strategic thinking or planning, you could step up to do your communal duty.
Applicants are asked to send a CV and a description of what contribution you could make to the sub committee, plus your relevant experiences. Deadline for applications is February 10th. Please send these to the Federation of Synagogues Chief Executive, Eli Kienwald.

Yeshurun Runs Out Of Whisky
Yeshurun members were advised from the pulpit of a serious incident this Shabbos when the shul ran out of whisky for the kiddush. Rumours had been circulating throughout shacharis that there was none of the gold stuff in the building and in a solemn announcement the Rabbi confirmed the worst at the start of his sermon. Members made do with fruit of the grape for this Shabbos - but things should be back to normal for next week.

Camp Simcha Are Having A Joke For Purim
For a second year Camp Simcha tell us they are creating a Purim Family Joke book which will be sold during Purim.
They want this to be a community project and are asking synagogues to give their jokers the chance to have their humour sealed in print, alongside their name and school or cheder (though this erroneously seems to presume jokers are only of school age - clearly they have not seen our full collection at Yeshurun).
All proceeds will go towards Camp Simcha's work supporting Jewish families in London, Manchester and the rest of the UK, with childhood cancer and other life threatening illnesses.
Every chosen joker will have their name printed alongside their joke. Please submit any joke and contact details by 12th February 2012 to purim@campsimcha.org.uk
